i wasn't entirely disappointed, but it wasn't enough to pull me back again. i found the the ambience, with the metal furniture, concrete floor, and austere booths, to be cold and industrial instead of romantic or artistic. There's also a HUGE tv screen over the bar where the booths are, hardly cozy or intimate. Don't listen to the Citysearch review, sit in the front of the restaurant at a table. It's far nicer. The food was adventurous. i had an excellent lamb short ribs appetizer. Some of the wild combinations didn't work in my opinion though. My broccolli rabe side was overly tart. In addition, my wife's scallops were basically raw inside although they did cook them more when requested. Prices were high as well. This should be a $$$ place not $$. Service was ok, not particularly well trained, but attentive probably because the restaurant was mostly empty.

Pros: interesting menu

Cons: expensive, uncomfortable

I agree that this restaurant is not your usual Salt Lake City restaurant. It has a very nice metropolitan feel. Unfortunately expensive and unusual food does not equal to great tasting food. Ive been to many fine restaurants in my life and this one ranks below average because of the food. The chefs try to be daring and inventive with the food but it comes out to be neither elegant nor rustic. Its just very plain

As a gourmet home chef, I can't tell you how many times my husband and I have dined out one os Salt Lake's Fine Dining Establilshment and left poorer and disappointed. The Globe by Moonlight finally gives us great food for the money. We've been there 5 times and the food and services has been consistently excellent each time. You can even have the soup (never miss the soup) and an appetizer and be full and happy. Also, check out the strangely inviting Globe Martini List.

Pros: Consistent, Excellent Quality, Worth the Money

Cons: No Street Parking, No Valet

This is definitely more like some great little bistro in a coastal city, but unfortunately, with the Big City taste comes the Big City price! But to me, it's worth it. If you're pinchin' the pennies, I highly suggest lunch, MUCH cheaper and just as excellent, and get this, bigger servings! Try the Buffalo Chicken sandwich, and don't be afraid of the soups, they are all amazing, even the garlic eggplant bisque, really! These boys took a chance on opening such a "grown up" eaterie in Utah and I applaud them for that and think they're doing a helluva job!! Don't forget to try the Cajun Moon martini!!

Pros: great wine selection, very eclectic, in & out lunch!

Cons: dinner is pricey, small portions

I was recently in SLC and Susie @ Little America sent me to the Globe Cafe by Moonlight. Upon entering, the romantic post-modern setting took me by surprise, especially since I was alone. But Chad (one of the managers) seated me in a comfy booth, and any doubts drifted away after the first 'Orient Express' martini. Rich, my waiter, was friendly and very well-informed. He suggested I start with the agnolotti and I wasn't sorry. Smooth as silk, I wished I'd ordered one to go. The lamb riblets on matzah balls was falling-apart tender. The catfish entree was astounding. Dessert a slightly sweet apricot semifreddo with glaceed apricots that was sheer heaven. Wines by the glass were well-priced and the way to go for one person. Rich's suggestions were flawless. Only, next time I go, I'm calling a friend!

Pros: GREAT service!!!, Never ate better, excuse to visit SLC

Cons: no Globe in LA

No hype, just genius! Chef Adam Kreisel's a force to be reckoned with, and I guarantee you haven't eaten this gloriously anywhere in the world. I've traveled extensively, eaten at the 'temples' of haute cuisine. Know what? I remember very few MEALS at those other altars. What I crave is AK's roast guinea hen, their stellar soups, or the Mission Fig Martini. What they nick you 2 bills for in El Lay is 25% that here. Can't decide? Call ahead and reserve a tasting menu. Just let him pair the wines,too. Don't try to impress anyone here---we all work for a living. Just get settled and prepare to be bowled over. The wait staff knows their stuff and won't try to get you to read their lame script. Tres cool music; live, DJ'd or the 'Staff's Picks'. Looking for a REAL star? The award goes to the Globe by Moonlight.

Pros: no attitude, great value, wonderous wine list

Cons: not stuck-up enough, wines too inexpensive, food too delicious

Every true fan of great food should know about this place. Each of my three visits to The Globe have confirmed what my friends have told me for the last year... The Globe is one of SLC's best restaurants (some might argue it is the best). From exceptionally prepared cuisine, to comfortable, friendly service, and out of this city atmosphere, The Globe hits it on every note. Reading a menu at The Globe is an experience in itself to even the most experienced diners... lamb, venison, ostrich, rabbit, alligator, and Kobe beef all grace the pages. Sound a little too adventerous for you? Just try one and you'll be a believer. Sure there are several more tame options for those who just can't bring themselves to try something they haven't seen on a farm, but if you're in the mood to broaden your culinary horizons, this is the place.

Pros: Great high end value, Friendly staff, Very unique

This dining experience is like stepping out of Salt Lake and into a restaurant in San Fran. It's so ecclectic and wonderful. The chef seems very passionate about the food creations, at least it tastes like it. It's not for wimps. It's not for chain restaurant lovers either. If you stick to a meat and potatoes kind of diet, and don't like to venture with your food, it isn't your place. It is for people who want to have a truly unique eperience in dining and who have a love of fine and distinct cuisine! Great quality!!!

My husband and I went to the Globe Cafe last year. We it would be more of an uptown experience. We went in-(it was almost completely empty, AND it was a Saturday night!) the atmosphere was awesome. The waiter brought out menus with no prices next to the items. Not wanting to be seen as "cheap", we didn't inquire about prices. As we waited for our food, the waiter brought out tiny samples of a cucumber soup. It was AWFUL. My husband literally started choking. When they brought out the food, it looked pretty, but it was a SMALL serving. I had the chicken-it wasn't bad, but I could go to Chili's and get a better meal. When they brought out the check it was over $50. $50?? And we had water with it! It was DEFINITELY not worth it. Go to the Gateway or Tucci's up the street.

Pros: Not crowded!, Right off Trax stop

Cons: Food was below avg., Cost was way too high, Not worth it
