I have been an avid gym attendee for over a decade. Being new to this area, I signed up at 24 hour fitness because it was close to our home. I have two young children that I have always brought to the gym with me. To my dismay, I have been turned away a few times at 24 hour fitness because the daycare was under staffed. I even had a daycare employee offer to take 1 of my 2 children while I worked out(how nice! and what was I to do with my other child?). After re-packing my children up to go home, without being able to work-out, another mom informed me that she too had been turned away more then once. Honestly, most gyms have the same equipment and the same classes, customer service and reliability are what set gyms apart. If you are single, 24 hour fitness is adequate. If you have a family, don't waste your time and money.

Okay, I have a home gym, but sometimes you need to go to the gym for motivation, energy, and good music. This place provides it more than any other gym in Salt Lake! It is very chill without the muscleheads showing off.. thank heavens!
Pros: great energy
Cons: could expand by now

If you are looking for a gym with good, positive energy, look no more. The Sugarhouse 24 Hour Fitness is the best. Lots of young and youthful health conscious types running faster and lifting higher. You will LOVE the classes (although be warned - they are crowded). Compared to the other 24 Hour Fitness gyms in the valley, Sugarhouse has the best teachers ... some of them also teach a few classes at the other nearby gyms. Highly recommended.
Pros: Classes, instructors, the energy level of the patrons
Cons: The sauna and hot tub are a little scary for unaccompanied women

Overall, I think this gym is a great value and that the 5-session personal trainer option is a really great way to start. However, it isn't long before you realize that the trainers are also sales people trying to get you to buy another package. Though I enjoyed my initial experience, I wish that the focus would have been entirely on training and getting me going for the first six months rather than hooking me for three or more training sessions. Also, since the trainers aren't private, there is a sense that they don't mind cutting the session a few minutes early-- they don't care if they are a little rude, etc... All of that being said, this is a really clean facility, the equipment is awesome and I'm really enjoying getting back into shape here.
Pros: hours, facility, cleanliness
Cons: too pushy

YOU PAY FOR WHAT YOU GET: I have a 24 HOUR FITNESS ALL-CLUB membership. My renewal is $100 a year. The machines are always maintained. The locker room is clean. I feel like I dont change in a closet. The convience of working out at multiple venues at anytime of the day is worth the cost. The ALL-CLUB is acessible for ANY 24 HOUR FITNESS venue in the world. At age 46 I wont be training to be on the OLympic team or try out for a free agent NFL gig. My goal is to live to age 95. Definitely 24 HOUR FITNESS is geared for this pursuit.
