Editorial Review for Historic Union Pacific Rail Trail State Park – by Luke Smith

The Scene
A 28-mile trail dedicated to nonmotorized use, the Rail Trail runs through Silver Creek Canyon alongside I-80 and has picnic tables along the way for users to enjoy a rest. Horseback riding, cycling, hiking, jogging, and cross-country skiing are the transportation modes most commonly used.

The Trail
Though mostly flat, there is a slight gradient running downhill from west to east. Throw in a headwind, and some young children will be exhausted after a day of riding from Coalville to Park City. Go the other direction and, while you won't be just gliding from start to finish, it won't take as much out of you.
